Patient stories
“Karina, and all of the vet nurses and vet specialists at VSOS, have such incredible empathy."
On the hardest day of Jimmy Barnes' life, the VSOS team was there.
We are excited to announce an expansion of our hospital to incorporate a new floor (level 1), with four additional start-of-the-art surgical suites, a variety of referral specialist rooms, and a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Our emergency service, internal medicine procedures and imaging department, which includes our MRI and CT scanners, will remain on the ground floor. This has also enabled space for our unique and first of its kind in Australia, interventional radiology department with two dedicated cath labs!
Our new dedicated ICU has been specially built to care for the most critical of patients and will house equipment necessary to care for these pets, such as a high dependency crib, integrated Menios ICU beds and Servo-U ventilators with high flow oxygen to name a few.
Our ICU team provides around-the-clock care to patients with life-threatening illness and injuries.
Working closely together as a dedicated team of specialists and nurses, to do everything we can to restore the quality of life of critically ill patients, to provide comfort and constant care, and to give families peace of mind at a particularly difficult time.
Dermatology:
We are excited to announce a partnership with one of Australia’s leading dermatologists, Dr. Dani Hoolahan and Dr Callum Bennie.
Dr Dani graduated from Murdoch University in 2007 with honours. Dr Dani specialises in allergic skin and ear disease, chronic infections, immune-mediated skin disease.
While studying veterinary medicine at the University of Sydney, Dr Callum conducted research into antibiotic therapy for mycobacterial skin diseases in cats – a research project that sparked his love of veterinary dermatology.

We are proud to offer rehabilitation and physical therapy services, and our team of specialists are committed to the best possible outcomes for their patients. We aim to achieve progressive rehab goals and speed up recovery, while improving function, comfort and quality of life.
